Stacey Ruiz, Ph.D.

VP, Drug Development & Discovery

Dr. Ruiz joined CardioVax in 2015 and serves as VP, Drug Development & Discovery. She is responsible for providing scientific leadership and direction over internal and partnered development programs and corporate strategy. Dr. Ruiz has significant experience leading development programs in various disease areas and providing novel approaches to advance drug candidates.



Prior to joining CardioVax, Dr. Ruiz was the Director of Business Development and Research and Development at La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company, where she led licensing and global partnering efforts to expand the company's pipeline portfolio and achieve financing goals. She was also responsible for full development programs, successful IND filing, and KOL outreach. Dr. Ruiz led Product Development efforts at Reata Pharmaceuticals, where she managed pharmacology and toxicology programs and provided scientific expertise to both Medical Affairs and Commercial teams, as well as for regulatory filings (FDA, EMA, and PMDA).


Dr. Ruiz completed her postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute after earning her PhD in Cancer Biology from The University of Texas Health Science Center/MD Anderson Cancer Center. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame.


Chris Farina, M.S.

VP, R&D Operations

Chris is the is the Vice President, Operations at CardioVax. He has been with the company since 2013 and has previously held the positions of Senior Project Manager and Director, R&D Program Management. In his current role, he is responsible for R&D operational and program management activities at CaridioVax. He has experience managing complex R&D projects in the early discovery to preclinical development phase of drug development, which have included several industry-academic collaborations.



Prior to joining CardioVax, Chris worked for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's Comprehensive Transplant Program in organ procurement. He also owned his own business in the website development and brand management space, and worked as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). He has more than 7 years of business management experience. Chris has a B.A. and an M.S. from the University of Southern California.
