Oye Olukotun, MD, MPH, FACC
Chief Executive Officer

Oye-OlukotunOye Olukotun, MD, MPH, FACC, Chief Executive Officer, is a Board Certified Cardiologist who has been instrumental in the submission of more than fourteen New Drug Applications, Premarket Authorization Applications, and 510k Applications in 30 years he has spent in pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Previously, he was the co-founder of VIA Pharmaceuticals and served as the Chief Medical Officer. Before joining VIA, Dr. Olukotun founded CR Strategies, LLC, a clinical research and development consulting firm in Princeton, NJ, and served as its Chief Executive Officer. He also was Chief Medical Officer of Esperion Therapeutics, Inc., a cardiovascular drug development company, until its acquisition by Pfizer. From 1996 to 2000, Dr. Olukotun was Vice President of Medical and Regulatory Affairs and Chief Medical Officer of Mallinckrodt, Inc. Prior to joining Mallinckrodt, Dr. Olukotun spent fourteen years at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, where he served as Vice President of two divisions focused on cardiovascular research. Dr. Olukotun received his MD degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and obtained a MPH degree from Harvard University School of Public Health. Throughout his career, he has published more than forty articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology as well as the American Heart Association. He is also currently a member of the Boards of Directors of BioClinica, Icagen, Milestone Pharma, and SemBioSys.

 

 

 

Mark Carvlin, PhD
Chief Operating Officer

Mark Carvlin, Ph.D., Chief Operating Officer, is a seasoned veteran of the life sciences industry serving as an entrepreneur, venture capitalist, consultant, and executive. Previously, he has served as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President, Clinical Affairs for Atherochem and Nanoscan Imaging, two development-stage companies. Mark held positions of Venture Partner and General Partner in Mi3 Venture Partners, a venture capital fund pursuing early-stage investments in life science technologies. In addition, he is a founding partner in SWGC Life-Sciences, a strategic management consulting company. Before pursuing entrepreneurial activities, Mark spent 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry advancing in business development, clinical development, strategic management, marketing, medical services and planning, and government and business affairs with Bracco Diagnostics Inc. and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Dr. Carvlin has been a member of the Radiology Departments of Georgetown University and the University of Pennsylvania. He has served as the principal investigator on a number of Phase 2, Phase 3, and Phase 4 clinical trials and has co-authored over 125 scientific publications. Dr. Carvlin received his PhD in Biophysics from Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

 

 

 

Janice Rae Mitrovich
Executive Director
Project Management and Planning

Janice Rae Mitrovich, Executive Director, Project Management and Planning, brings over 25 years of diverse experience from the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and contract research industries. Prior to joining CardioVax, she coordinated cross functional activities for global IND programs at GPC Biotech and the Bracco Group where she led the company’s worldwide project planning and R&D portfolio management efforts for almost a decade. Before joining the Bracco Group, she cultivated business development relationships for IBRD-Rostrum Global, a contract research organization, and was also involved in early start-up companies, Cytogen and Bio-Imaging Technologies, as they began their start in the biotech industry. Prior to moving to industry, Janice was on the staff at the George Washington University Medical Center where she managed research programs in nuclear medicine and hematology/oncology. Her research has been published in a number of scientific journals.
